This was a wedding present for a dear friend and colleague, using a chip of waste from a commercial stoneyard.
Onyx this deeply translucent is difficult to photograph well, so I illuminated it with alternating black and white stripes from a slide projector. As you can see in many other examples on this website, this and its laser-based equivalent are valuable tools to evaluate the wholeness and integrity of forms.
