Bird Watcher
Granite. 2008. 11″ high plus base.
The cobble of light granite with a heavy vein of dark granite caught my eye on the beach, so I took it home and played with the form. Polishing part of the dark stone darkened it, resulting in 3 textures and 3 colours in the finished sculpture. Together with the form, those textures and colours work together to produce a sense of motion that I call thrust.
