Goose

Teak. 1982. 2.5″ high. Private collection.

Goose is so light and airy that the slightest breath of breeze would take it away.  This sculpture is one of many I carved during meetings at the University of British Columbia.  It was thrilling to rub away the wood without looking at it, while immersed fully in the business at hand.  As much as any of the work I have done, Goose was truly and literally produced by feeling, made for feeling, and still delightful to look at.
