Surfer

Granite, limestone. 2006. 11 ½ inches high.

The granite part of Surfer lay for years outside my studio.  One day I found an interesting piece of limestone on a beach, and that stone also hung around for years. I didn’t know what to do with either of them, but kept wondering.  I eventually ‘saw’ a surfer in my mind’s eye and I put them together in real life.
